Hospital management system for OPD, IPD, labs and billing
One system for registration, appointments, doctors' notes, wards, lab and radiology, pharmacy, billing and insurance claims, with a patient app and live dashboards for management.
A hospital management system should let a patient move from the front desk to the doctor, lab, pharmacy and billing counter without anyone re-entering the same details. ZedBlu's HMS connects every department on one patient record, so each team sees what it needs and management sees the whole hospital.
Our hospital management software is built for multispecialty hospitals, nursing homes, day-care centers and clinic chains that have outgrown basic clinic management software. Modules switch on in phases, starting with OPD and billing, then adding IPD, operating rooms, lab, radiology, pharmacy and inventory.
Choose a monthly subscription, a one-time license with source code, or a custom build. We migrate data from your current software, train each department and provide support and maintenance after go-live.
Everything you need to run it
Hospital web application
The core system for front desk, doctors, nurses, lab, pharmacy, billing and administration, with role-based screens for each department. It runs in the browser on desktops and tablets, so wards and counters need no special hardware.
Doctor app
Doctors see their appointment list, patient history, lab results and imaging reports on a phone or tablet, write prescriptions and notes from templates, and approve discharge summaries during rounds.
Patient app
Patients book appointments, check their queue position, pay bills, download lab reports and prescriptions, and get reminders for follow-ups and medicines. One account can manage several family members.
Management dashboard
Bed occupancy, OPD footfall, revenue by department, pending insurance claims, pharmacy stock value and doctor-wise collections, updated through the day for owners, administrators and medical superintendents.
Features that do the heavy lifting
Registration and OPD queues
Register patients with a unique ID, capture demographics and insurance details, and book appointments by doctor, department or slot. The OPD management system issues tokens and drives queue display screens at busy counters.
Electronic medical records
Built-in EMR software for hospitals lets doctors record vitals, complaints, diagnoses, prescriptions and orders using specialty templates. Past visits, allergies and results appear on one timeline.
IPD, wards and beds
Admissions, bed allocation by ward and category, transfers, nursing notes, medication charts and daily charges. Discharge summaries pull data from the stay automatically.
Lab and radiology
Doctors' orders flow to the lab, samples are tracked with barcodes, results are entered or imported from analyzers, and reports are approved before release to doctors and patients.
Pharmacy and inventory
Dispense against prescriptions, track batches and expiry dates, manage purchase orders and reorder levels, and keep ward and store stock separate. Controlled drugs carry stricter access logs.
Billing and packages
Itemized bills for consultations, procedures, room rent, medicines and investigations, plus surgery packages, advances, approved discounts and refunds. Every charge links back to the service that created it, making this full hospital billing software.
Insurance and TPA claims
Record policy details, track pre-authorizations, compile claim documents, and follow each claim from submission to settlement, with outstanding amounts visible to the billing team.
Operating room scheduling
Book operating rooms, surgeons, anesthesiologists and equipment, record pre-op checklists and consumables used, and post surgery charges straight to the patient's bill.
Role-based access and audit logs
Each user sees only what their role allows, and every view or edit of a patient record is logged. Sessions time out on shared computers, and sensitive notes can be restricted further.
Reports and analytics
Department revenue, doctor productivity, bed turnover, pharmacy margins and claim aging, with exports and optional Power BI dashboards for management reviews.
Business benefits
One record per patient
At its core this is a patient management system: notes, results, prescriptions and bills sit on a single record, so doctors decide with full history and billing teams stop chasing paper charge slips from wards.
Fewer revenue leaks
Charges post automatically from orders, procedures and pharmacy dispensing, which makes missed charges and unbilled services much easier to catch before a patient is discharged.
Shorter waits at the counter
Online booking, token queues and pre-filled registration speed up the front desk, while patients pay bills and collect reports in the app instead of standing in line.
Built for audits and privacy
Role-based access, audit trails and encrypted storage give your compliance team the controls it needs to support HIPAA-aware practices, GDPR and the health data rules of your country.

Hospital Management System: FAQ
How much does a hospital management system cost?
Cost depends on modules, beds and users, branches, integrations and the buying option. A subscription spreads cost into monthly payments, and a one-time license is a single payment that includes source code. A fully custom HMS is an enterprise platform, so it usually costs more than a typical custom web app ($8,000 to $60,000+), depending on modules and integrations. After a free consultation and a review of your departments, we provide a fixed quote.
How long does HMS implementation take?
For a single hospital on our ready platform, implementation typically takes six to twelve weeks, including configuration, data migration, training and department-by-department go-live. Multi-branch groups, lab analyzer integration and insurance workflows extend the plan. A fully custom system usually takes six months or more, and we agree a phased schedule so clinical work is not interrupted.
Does the system support HIPAA and data privacy requirements?
We build to support HIPAA and similar privacy rules with role-based access, audit logs, encryption in transit and at rest, automatic session timeouts and hosting in the region you choose. Compliance also depends on your own policies, staff training and vendor agreements, so we work with your compliance team and do not claim certification on your behalf.
Can it handle insurance claims and GST or VAT billing?
Yes. Billing is built to support Indian GST and Gulf or European VAT, along with tax-exempt medical services where local rules allow. Insurance and TPA workflows cover pre-authorization, claim documents and settlement tracking. Patients can pay through Stripe, Razorpay or a regional gateway, in the app or at the counter, in your local currency.
Can we migrate data from our current HMS software?
Usually, yes. We import patient demographics, past visit summaries, masters such as services, tariffs and medicines, and opening pharmacy stock from your current HMS software or spreadsheets. The depth of migration depends on how your data is stored, which we assess during the demo. Older records can also be kept read-only for reference.
Does it integrate with lab analyzers, PACS or telemedicine?
Yes, through APIs and standard interfaces. Results can be imported from lab analyzers, imaging reports linked from your PACS, and video consultations added through our telemedicine platform. We build to support HL7 and FHIR-based data exchange where your partners need it, and confirm the exact integrations during scoping.
